This is the first of (hopefully) many posts. I promise it wont be self obsessed or rambling... Saying that I will just briefly let on how I got into crochet. I mention in my bio that it started after a visit to Edinburgh Zoo, well at the time I didn't live here and I was visiting my boyfriends parents over a half term break (I used to be a teacher in London) and as most normal people, I assume, I just had to explore the shop before I left. Low and behold I found a gorgeous looking "crochet your own monkey" pack. How difficult could it be? The packaging said 6 and above! I was sure I would have it done by the end of the day ready to impress my boyfriends mother when she got home from work. Three and half hours later I still hadn't crocheted more than 1cm worth of what was meant to be the tail, what made it worse was that it looked like a small poo, when in came Ali (boyfriends mum). Suffice to say she found my complete dumbfoundedness at the difficulty of this 'simple' monkey hysterical. Being the lovely lady that she is, we sat down together for a tutorial. Another few hours later we both decided that the instructions had been google translated and badly. It took us the rest of the weekend to complete the main body! When finally we finished this monkey a six year old supposedly could have made I was determined to better my skills. Essentially, I don't like being bad at things and this was bad. So off I went on a shopping spree and started my learning curve!
