This is a cute design you can do with any yarn and any hook, just make sure the hook isn't too big for the yarn or the shape wont be quite right. I have used them to hang on door handles but you could stuff them with smellies for your draws or attach them to create bunting.
Materials
For this heart I used a 5.50 mm hook and a medium weight yarn.
Abbreviations
I use UK crochet terms
dc - double cro chet
htc - half triple crochet
tc - triple crochet
ss - slip stich
ch - chain
st - stitch
Pattern
Start by making a ch of 13
Rnd 1: dc in second ch from hook and all the way across (12 dc)
Rnd 2: ch 1, turn, dc in each st across (12 dc)
Rnd 3-6: ch 1, turn, dc in each st across
Rnd 7 ch 1, turn, dc in the next 6 st (6 dc)
Rnd 8-14: ch 1, turn, dc in the next 6 st
To finish:
dc in each st around the outside of the heart. When you get to the point of the heart dc ch 1 dc in same st.
Continue to dc around until you get to the short side.
Then dc in next st, htc in next st, 3 tc in next 2 st, htc in next st, dc in next st and the next 6 st.
You should now be at the v of the heart, make a ss to reinforce the shape then continue with dc until you get to the next corner.
Here dc in next st, htc in next st, 3 tc in next 2 st, htc in next st, dc in next st. ss to join.
Fasten off and sew in ends.
I made two of these and sewed them together, before completing I stuffed with some polyester stuffing.
